Mustang Dynamometer

"The world’s leader in Eddy Current Chassis Dynamometers, introduces the all-new Gladiator High Performance Chassis Dynamometer. The Gladiator is a compact, ultra high performance chassis dynamometer with low inertial properties, high-tractive rollers, air-cooled Eddy Current Power Absorption and a unique center pull-down for increased tire-roll efficiency. With a power capacity of 1,000-hp and a speed rating of 150-mph, the Gladiator is the best dollar for dollar value in the business. "

2010'

So far for about the past year I have been absolutely infatuated with chassis dynes and how they could benefit my tuning business. For months and months now I have saved every penny I could get my hands on and now its all paid off, as of May 18 2010, we are $2000 away from saving up the full amount for a brand new Mustang Gladiator dyno.

They have an extremely efficient patented way of controlling load which will simulate almost identical real world conditions allowing us to confidently hand out customer keys to fully tuned cars without their cars ever leaving the shop.

Now we can tune cars year round, test parts at will and see more of what works.

Its a willing commitment for myself and the largest financial business decision I have ever made. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be one of the best decisions I have made to date.

The dyno will be portable if needed but it is getting its own ventilated room at my speed shop. Soon I will be adding another section to the web site that just covers the room construction.

The dyno will also do standing stop 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile test that are very accurate and should safely solve quite a few grudge races during the off seasons.

Updates:

May 22 2010:

I am going Tuesday May 25 2010 to pay for the dyno that should take 2-4 weeks to complete. I will be getting one exactly as pictured.

No turning back now, this jokers up and rocking, working great! I'm really proud of this investment. I plan to do a whole lot to this thing making it better and better as time goes on.

So I can't help but to keep adding more and more goodies to it, upgrading it a bit here and there.

New 14ft alum. adjustable low profile ramps, 4000CFM 1hp intercooler fan, mini PC and 23" monitor are in, working and installed!

Dyno telescopic fully adjustable monitor mount, wireless mini hand controls, and giant 25ft 4" exhaust hose reel install is almost finished and will be functioning very shortly.

Exhaust extraction 700cfm fan and speed control are in waiting for install with reel.

Soon, I will be back at the idea of a portable dedicated sound deadened air circulated room, a 'dyno cell'. Construction of this will take some time as the sheer cost of this is almost as much as the dyno itself.

I am making up a 72" tracking system that will run above the dyno connected to the ceiling. The telescopic LCD monitor mount will be connected to it like a roller coaster with 8 little wheels. This will allow me to re position the monitor quickly for FWD or RWD vehicles

I am also relocating all wiring to the ceiling. I just hate seeing people walk on the expensive cables.

December 21st 2010

Plans of the new dyno cell are now completed and construction will begin soon. There will also be a customer waiting area with a viewing window and an LCD screen for viewing the results. Starting out there will be ~30000cfm of air being moved and the air will exchange at least 7 times a minute. This prevents carbon dioxide build up and exhaust gas re circulation. I will dedicate an page to its full construction with step by step pictures.
